The Accompagnateur Workshops and Women’s Prison Association

co-created a workshop.

The workshop includes ten justice-involved women in this advanced class to build self-identity, self-awareness and tools for competent communication. These women were selected for their desire to become advocates for criminal justice reform.

The in-class exercise is to imagine a book about our own lives.

What would the title be?

The women keep the cameras between the sessions and the assignment is to photograph the image for their book cover. All return with poignant illustrations.  With a new and literal lens they explored their homes, communities, and families.  They haven’t had many chances to tell their stories. With grace they fill in the narrative around the selected images.  Their titles speak volumes.
